![]() November 2006 Euphoric Chillout 3 - Seperate MP3's & Cover Zipped Euphoric Chillout 3 - Single MP3 Version The Closing Chapter in Uplifting Chill. |
Tribal Variations was produced for the launch of the 'Tribal Vibrations' club in December 2006, following the success of the 'Kalahari' project, raising awareness of the Bushmen's legal case to win back their homeland in Botswana. I was tasked with opening the club with a tribal trance set along with the legendary DJ Monkey Pilot and this album was a compilation of some of the best bits. Drummy, uplifting and varied - it's a special journey! |
Finally downloadable, with ALL NEW INTRO from those who've been given CDs already. This album features a lot of tunes that I've been playing at Planet Angel, Sofa Sundaze, Synergy and of course the one and only Whirl-y-Gig - where many have featured as parachute tracks through 2006/7. Enjoy! |

PAYGAN - Warpath chucks all my dark and scary tunes together in a twisted journey through dark trance, psytrance, drum and breaks, drum and bass, psy-drum and bass, culminating in my 'extra dark' edit of Cut and Run's Darkside and then (I had to) a 2 tune uplifting breaks ending. Well, we're not all as fluffy as we seem! This mix marks my final shift into non-genre and cross-genre mixing. On with new wicked tunes, whatever they are. Highlights include Tilt's Red Dawn Mix of The Eve of War, Flasheadz - Wizards of the Sonic, Dallas Superstars rework of Killa, Pendulum's 2003 Spiral, and loads of Sub Focus! Rah! |

![]() January 2006 PAYGAN Joy - Seperate MP3's & Cover Zipped PAYGAN Joy - Single MP3 Version Trance crossing into D&B & Gay Disco for a bit |
PAYGAN Cermony was based on my Edensounds set in November, before our winter break. It's a bit of an aggressive mix. Certainly no follow up to rites, but has some banging funkiness nevertheless. |
PAYGAN Joy - As featured at U-4-IC's Xmas party (honoured!) This is mostly trance, featuring lots of new cracking tunes for a brand, spanking New Year. Matt Darey's - Eternity, Dave Joy - Fourth Joyride and Ferry Corsten - Fire (vocals by Simon le Bon) deserve a mention and get ready for some surprises at the end! |

Euphoric Chill winds up a season of chill tunes I've been listening to in recent months. Coming together for a reason. Was to be called Euphoric Vocal Chillout, as every track is that, but it just didn't sound quite right! Can't be bothered to talk tunes, just enjoy your Sunday mornings to it, as I will mine. ;-) |

![]() March 2005 PAYGAN Ritual Uplifting Global Dance |
![]() September 2005 PAYGAN Rites - Seperate MP3's & Cover Zipped PAYGAN Rites - Single MP3 Version Eclectic Global Dance |
PAYGAN Ritual puts together some of the funkier and more banging tunes that I've used at Cafe Cairo, my late slots at PA Chilled and the PA Chill Bar (where the acoustics necessitate upbeat chillout). It also features a lot of artists I know personally or have seen at festivals or whirl-y-bands. Orbital and Moby start the mix and, although mainstream always make me think of the good times and good friends I've been with seeing their performances at Glastonbury. Both tracks have global elements which culminate in Templehedz brilliant 'We're in this together' taking the listener off to every part of the globe for a jiggle. Trying to show that it's not all 'Indian Takeaway Music', Kamel Nitrate takes us into another galaxy with Sitar Wars - blending russian vocals and polka to a tune that'd make an Indian waiter drop his Bhaji! The mix delves into powerful techno grooves from Pete Ardron and Templehed's mix of Banco's Mafich Arabi then on into the haywire 140bpm dub of Zion Train's Beatmass. Things take a turn for the Celtic with Afrocelts and Elephant Talk. These tunes bring with them a good dose of psy-trance, with undertones that develop into a very uplifting Hybrid mix of The Orb and through to a somewhat quirky, yet catchy little end piece by Etnica that seems to get better and better the more you listen to it. These are tunes of the extraordinary, they were never going to mix that smooth, but I hope you like what I've done with them =) |
PAYGAN Rites follows on where PAYGAN Ritual left off, mashing up everything in global dance from Tek-House to Drum and Bass, with Psytrance, Breakbeat and Bigbeat all in the middle somewhere. Rites is Mashup City, with no less than 10 classic tunes tumbled in there. It also reflects a lot of the latest Whirl-y-Gig music, in particular Stylin' in Jakatta's remake of Superstylin' and Fadi's rework of Elton John's Rocketman. Please note that these are the original, non-U-4-IC-ized versions however, so they have extra bits you won't hear at Whirly! (Debate which versions are better at your leisure). |
![]() June 2005 Summer Fluff Summery Trance |
![]() October 2005 Driving Fluff - Seperate MP3's & Cover Zipped Driving Fluff - Single MP3 Version Driving, Uplifting, Global Trance |
| Third in the 'Fluff' series of cheery trance, Summer Fluff is one for the short nights and long mornings. Following a similar formula as the well regarded 'Return of the Fluff', the mix has 2 builds which helps it cycle nicely (for those forgetting, or too lazy to change CDs). The first build to Capetown's 'Flight of Icarus' is especially sunny, things then get a bit harder and even a bit breaky building towards Synergy's fantastic 'Hello Strings'. I forget who's massive mix it is, but it is massive and does have strings. Lots of new tunes, lots of twinkly beeps, lots of fluff! | The Fluff rides again in Driving Fluff. It follows the usual formula of 3 progressive, building tracks, brought to us this time by Paul Oakenfold, David West and Darren Tate. Things get more banging with some harder trance from Cirque Du Soleil, Perpetua and Anergy. This cools only slightly into some more melodic (but still quite hard) tunes from Tilt, Avanto and Cloudchaser. Finally, things get build to a banging climax with Kenneth Thomas, Hidden Logic and Factoria's somewhat tongue-in-cheek, scary trance tune - 'No Escape'. It's enough to wake Miss. Daisy! |

Mystical Chillout contains a lot of the tunes that I've been DJing at Planet Angel and Planet Angel Chilled throughout 2004. I think of it as a U-bend mix as it starts with some staggeringly beautiful tunes, including a momentous remix of Art of Noise's 'Snapshot' by none other than Banco de Gaia under alter-ego 'Discko Gecko'. A bit of everything follows, from dub and ethnic beats to mainstream chill, slowing the mix in the middle to a very relaxed pace and then picking things up to a climax of ethereal Gregorian vocals. |
Euphoric Chillout explores further into the world of ethno-techno fusions and was inspired by a 7-9am set at the first Edensounds, where many of these tunes created a wonderful Sunday morning mood. With some particularly well composed new age pieces, ethereal vocals abound and ambient thoughtful sequences contrast powerful vocal uplifts to enhance mood and inspire. A couple of toe-tapping dubs in the middle lead a couple of tracks by Ulrich Schnauss (Fairy Dance Happening at PA Music) and Nacho Sotomayor, which are best described as chilled breakbeat - some of the best I've found in a gorgeous new genre. The mix ends with a 13 minute space-chillout epic - Sycorax by Callisto, produced by Dave Massey of Timecode Indigo and Messier87 - a familiar face in my mixes - and sure to appear again with the new Timecode album coming in May! |

Return of the Fluff seems to be my most appreciated 'baniging' mix to date. Starting with the fabulous Leama and Moor remix of Brian Eno's 'The Ending' the first 3 tracks are progressive little numbers leading to an explosion of melody with Alt + F4. This leads on into pretty new tunes from the likes of Darren Tate, Rapid Eye and Cape Town. George Hales anthematic 'Kyoto' would seem a good place to leave things, except for a tune that's been making a few people go 'oooh' - Factoria - A Legends Legacy (Octagen Mix). On top of having the sweetest vocal, this tune reduces the pace so that the CD will keep spinning around and around in your CD player ;-) |
Classic Fluff harks back to the olden days of uplifting trance. Including tunes found through from the time I discovered trance, to Rich Morley, Matt Therapy, Sly One and Rolo inspired picks. It suffers from some wonky key-mixing due to the requirements to have certain mixes in certain places, but sings of happy things and good memories. |

Spiritual Chillout and Enchanting Chillout were compiled and mixed around the same time in late 2003 and successfully submitted as demo CDs for both Planet Angel's Chill Lounge and Planet Angel Chilled. A number of musical influences such as DJ's Monkey Pilot, U-4-IC, Sly One, B-fly, Therapy & Tequila helped me to focus more on music for the atmosphere - ethnic instruments, voices, electronica, and a delicate blend of tunes and beats from around the globe. Nothing that sits still for too long. Artists such as Amethystium, Ikarus, Delerium, Conjure One, Wendy G and Sinead O'Connor define my own style and feature prominently to guide both CDs to uplifting endings. |
